Garrykennedy Cottage was built in 1782. As
you walk through the half-door entrance you get the feeling of being
carried back in time. The original fireplaces, stone crafted walls,
slate floors and pitch-pine ceilings all provide an atmosphere of
warmth and relaxation. The house has been fully restored in keeping
with its character.
This vacation cottage was originally occupied
by the late Jack Ryan, the brother of the late Ciss Ryan who owned the local pub.
We think Jack would be impressed with our restoration efforts.
The cottage is self-catering and has been
inspected and awarded a 4 star by Bord
Failte, the Irish Tourist Board. The cottage includes all modern
conveniences blended with
old world charm.
The dining room has a wood burning stove
in the old brick fireplace with french doors opening out onto a
private patio and terraced country garden. The dining room can comfortably
seat 8 for dinner. This room also has a picture window looking onto
the lake. The sun-room to the rear of the cottage looks out onto
the garden of wild flowers. The sun-room provides a bright and peaceful
place to linger.
The 80ft long garden is surrounded by an
old stone wall and allows complete seclusion. The terraced garden
is stocked with an abundance of mature trees, shrubs, wild flowers.
There is a quaint stone shed and stone bench at the end of the garden.
The orientation of the back garden makes it a natural sun-trap.

To the front of the house
there is a graveled garden with a built-in stone table and bench.
Ivy surrounds one of the living room windows and roses creep over
the arched picture window.
Enjoy great view of the lake from
the front garden.
